BMI Congratulates Its Winners at the 34th Premio Lo Nuestro

BMI is thrilled to once again congratulate its many innovative songwriters who received awards at last night’s 34th edition of Univision’s Premio Lo Nuestro, which was held a the FTX Arena in Miami. Among the evening’s biggest winners, several BMI affiliates were multiple-award recipients, notably Karol G, J Balvin, CNCO and Grupo Firme, who each took home three prestigious awards. Karol G won for Song of the Year and Urban Song of the Year for “Bichota,” and the award for Urban Female Artist of the Year. J Balvin won Crossover Collaboration of the Year for “In Da Ghetto,” Urbano Pop-Urban Song of the Year for “Qué Más Pues?” and Urban Collaboration of the Year for “Am Remix.” CNCO took home the award for Pop Duo or Group of the Year, Pop Song of the Year for “Tan Enamorados” and Pop Album of the Year for Déjà Vu. Grupo Firme collected the awards for Regional Mexican Group or Duo of the Year, Banda Song of the Year for “El Tóxico” and Regional Mexican Album of the Year for Nos Divertimos Logrando Lo Imposible. Versatile newcomer El Alfa from the Dominican Republic, meanwhile was celebrated with two honors for Tropical Song of the Year for “Bebé” and the New Artist Male award. A special award, Premio a la Trayectoria, was presented to Mexican singer/songwriter Paulina Rubio.

Beyond the awards, the evening was a star-studded celebration, including many moving tributes, speeches and dynamic performances. Anitta took the stage with renditions of “Envolver” and “No Chão Novinha.” CNCO delivered a rousing rendition of “Party, Huma & Alcohol.” Luis Fonsi sang a festive version of “Vacaciones,” Pitbull and Deorro got the crowd moving with “Discoteca,” Sting debuted his new Spanish single “Por Su Amor,” Wisin Y Yandel brought the house down with runs through “No Se Olvida” and “Sexy Movimiento” and Paulina Rubio performed a triumphant medley of her hits “Ni Una Sola Palabra,” “Lo Hare Por Ti,” “Te Quise Tanto,” “Causa y Efecto,” “Don’t Say Goodbye,” “Mio,” “Ah Ah Ah,” and “Y Yo Sigo Aquí.”
