Posted in News on August 18, 2010

BMI and Digital Hollywood have partnered to present Content, Copyright & Commerce, a one-day symposium at the Fall Digital Hollywood in Santa Monica. The event is designed to analyze and anticipate the evolution of entertainment in the digital world. It is slated for Wednesday, October 20 at the Loews Santa Monica (1700 Ocean Avenue) during Digital Hollywood Fall, which runs October 18-21. Speakers will include Evan Lowenstein of Evan and Jaron as well as representatives from EMI, SoundExchange, 7Digital, Dada/play.me Live 365.com, TuneCore and more.

“This event explores the current state of entertainment with an eye to the future,” said Richard Conlon, BMI Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy Communications & New Media. “Content, Copyright & Commerce was created with all facets of our increasingly interconnected industries in mind. Our goal is to foster a meaningful dialog about change.”

“Content, Copyright & Commerce’s mission is to bring people together,” said Michael Drexler, BMI Senior Director, Business Development. “In addition to highlighting trends in digital media, we’ll explore how a healthy copyright market actually cultivates viable businesses for all the stakeholders involved.”

Content, Copyright & Commerce will offer a stacked agenda revolving around hot-button topics and trend analyses. Issues debated and discussed will include music downloading versus streaming; creating game-changing digital media start-ups; redesigning the music industry’s payment structure in the face of the growing digital space; and an international expert-led conversation about copyright protection.

Panelists and featured speakers will be announced soon. Registration for Digital Hollywood Fall includes admittance to Content, Copyright & Commerce, but single-day registration is also available for a discounted $100 rate that also includes access to all Digital Hollywood activities on Wednesday.
