BMI Presents 121 Million-Air Awards to Sony Music Publishing Songwriters in Nashville
BMI’s Nashville Creative team joined forces with Sony Music Publishing Nashville to present 121 BMI Million-Air Awards to songwriters on Thursday, July 16. Hosted by BMI’s Clay Bradley and Sony Music Publishing’s Rusty Gaston, 33 BMI affiliated songwriters were honored for their craft as the group collectively accumulated more than 251 million broadcast performances on U.S. radio.
Highlights from the celebration included presenting BMI Icons Bill Anderson with 12 awards and Bobby Braddock with 11 awards for Anderson’s “Give It Away,” “The Tip Of My Fingers” and more, and Braddock’s contributions on Tracy Lawerence’s “Time Marches On” and Billy Currington’s “People Are Crazy.” Garnet Bowman, wife of the late Ronnie Bowman, accepted three awards on his behalf for penning Kenny Chesney’s “Never Wanted Nothing More,” Chris Stapleton’s “Nobody To Blame” and Bowman’s own “It’s Getting Better All The Time,” which collectively surpassed four million broadcast performances on U.S. radio.
Additional songwriters presented with BMI Million-Air Awards included Dan Alley, Trannie Anderson, Brian Davis, Tom Douglas, Dan Isbell, Paul Jenkins, Ryan Larkins, Tony Martin, Jim McCormick, James McNair, Jordan Minton, Jake Mitchell, Steve Moakler, Patrick Murphy, Mark Nesler, Drew Parker, Rivers Rutherford, Dylan Schneider, Andy Sheridan, Bryan Simpson, Jeff Stevens, Jody Stevens, Russell Sutton, Joybeth Taylor, Mitchell Tenpenny, Trent Tomlinson, Jordan Walker, Brad and Brett Warren and Travis Wood (SOCAN).
