Reema Iqbal

Reema Iqbal Reema Iqbal is an Executive Director in the Creative Film, TV & Visual Media department at Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI), Los Angeles. In this role, she is responsible for nurturing and maintaining relationships with songwriters, composers and music publishers in television, film and visual media. She also analyzes royalty payments, scouts new talent, connects songwriters and composers with potential management and educates affiliates on the mechanics of royalties in the evolving A/V media landscape.

Iqbal also helps facilitate composer-centric opportunities at industry events and conferences such as the annual BMI Composer Roundtable at the Sundance Film Festival, the Billboard/Hollywood Reporter Film & TV Music Conference and the Los Angeles Film Festival. She also served as Co-Director of the Pete Carpenter Fellowship and was able to expand the number of fellowship opportunities for aspiring composers. Iqbal is passionate about educating and supporting the emerging creative community and frequently speaks at schools of music including NYU, Berklee College of Music, University of Miami, Chapman and more.

Some of the notable composers and songwriters Iqbal has worked with include Hildur Guðnadóttir, Alan Silvestri, Ludwig Göransson, Alan Menken, Tamar-kali, Leighton Meester, Christina Perri, Justin Hurwitz, Aly & AJ, Rita Wilson and Carlos Rafael Rivera. Iqbal joined BMI in 2011 and held various roles within the Creative department including Coordinator and Senior Director before being promoted to her current position in 2022. Prior to BMI, she was involved in writing and production for scripted television shows—particularly sitcoms—at networks like CBS, ABC and FOX as well as studios like Paramount Pictures, ABC Studios and NBC Universal.

Iqbal holds a Bachelor of Science in Film and Television from Boston University. She is on the board of the World Soundtrack Awards, is part of the advisory board of CSU’s Professional Development program and is a current member of the Alliance for Women Film Composers, Recording Academy and Women in Film groups.
