BMI’s Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop has helped develop top talent for half a century. Lyricists and composers behind award-winning productions such as A Chorus Line, Little Shop of Horrors, Nine, Once On This Island, Ragtime, Avenue Q, Next To Normal, and The Book of Mormon are members of the workshop, which received a special Tony Award in 2007 and a Drama Desk Award in 2006. The New York Times has called the program “the Harvard of musical theatre.”

It comes as no surprise, then, that anticipation is high for the annual BMI Workshop Showcase, an exclusive preview of new theatre songs by members of the workshop. Slated for Thursday, November 3 at the Marjorie S. Deane Little Theater in New York City, the 2011 installment will feature work from Kellen Blair and Joe Kinosian, Jeff Blumenkrantz, Raymond Bokhour and Simon Gray, Beth Falcone, Michele Foor and David Gaines, Matthew Hardy and Randy Klein, Mary Liz McNamara, Andy Monroe, Michael Ogborn, Adam Overett, Matt Van Brink & Charlie Sohne, and Jeff Ward.

The 2011 BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre Workshop Showcase is presented in association with Musical Mondays Theatre Lab and produced by BMI’s Pat Cook and Frank Evans. Igor Goldin serves as the show’s director. Learn more at www.bmi.com/theatre.
