BMI Congratulates its 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Inductees & Award-Winners

Posted in News on April 14, 2026

BMI is excited to congratulate our songwriters whose incomparable talents were recognized by way of induction into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. In the performer category, Oasis (PRS), Sade, and the Wu-Tang Clan were announced as members of the 2026 class of inductees. The induction ceremony is scheduled for November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will air on ABC and Disney+ in December.

Rising out of England’s indie scene of the 1990s, Oasis (PRS) burst out of Manchester led by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher. Simultaneously modern and retro, Oasis singles recalled British rock’s heroes while still sounding fresh, new and exciting. Singles like “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “Wonderwall,” “Roll With It,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Champagne Supernova” and many others soared to the top of the charts, spearheading the Britpop movement in the process. Their recent global reunion tour amplified the band’s staying power.

One of the most successful and influential British artists in history, Sade Adu (PRS) formed her eponymous band in the early ‘80s, achieving a deal with Epic records in 1983 with her signature brand of soulful and sophisticated pop. Via a series of sultry, jazz-informed hits like “Smooth Operator,” “The Sweetest Taboo,” “No Ordinary Love,” “Your Love is King,” “By Your Side,” and “Soldier of Love,” Sade cemented herself as an iconic artist with a timeless sound.

Attaining a monumental level of influence and mystique almost immediately upon their early ‘90s debut, Staten Island collective the Wu-Tang Clan helped define hip-hop’s golden age with a series of albums, side-projects and unforgettable tracks that made each of Wu-Tang’s nine members household names. Via the studio talents of rapper/producer and mastermind RZA, Wu-Tang released cinematic, sample-heavy music that was infectious and haunting. Celebrated Wu-Tang tracks include “C.R.E.A.M.,” “Protect Ya Neck,” “Triumph,” “Method Man,” “Da Mystery of Chessboxin’,” “Bring Da Ruckus,” “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” and many others. After eight studio albums and countless side-projects, Wu-Tang played its final show in February of 2025.

Beyond the inductions, several music creators were also named as impending award recipients. Legendary singer/songwriter Gram Parsons will be posthumously given the Early Influence Award. Renowned for his groundbreaking work with the Byrds and the Flying Burrito Brothers, Parsons is hailed as an early progenitor of country rock and alt.country, having mixed styles like country, R&B, soul, folk and rock into a compelling and profoundly influential new sound. Songwriter, lyricist and producer Linda Creed will be posthumously receiving the Musical Excellence Award. A longtime collaborator of songwriter/producer Thomas Bell, Creed established herself as a pivotal figure in defining the Philadelphia Soul sound, having collaborated on several hits with The Stylistics, The Spinners, George Benson, Johnny Mathis, among many others. Also posthumously receiving the Musical Excellence Award is producer Jimmy Miller, whose acclaimed work with names like The Rolling Stones, The Spencer Davis Group, Traffic, Blind Faith, Steve Winwood, The Move, Motörhead and Primal Scream resulted in a wide discography of beloved canonical albums.

Congratulations to the entire class of 2026!
