Indie Spotlight: Patrick Dethlefs
Patrick Dethlefs (pronounced “DET-lefs”) is on a mission to revive folk Americana. His most recent release, 2012’s Fall and Rise, stays true to that mission, with innocent lyricism, effortless sincerity and hints of nostalgia. Inspired by his father (also a musician), whom he lost when he was young, Dethlefs first picked up a guitar at age twelve. Now in his early twenties, the Colorado-based artist counts winning the Best Teen Songwriter Award at Swallow Hill Music, a non-profit organization in the U.S. dedicated to developing folk and acoustic music, among his many achievements.
