Indie Spotlight: Lollapalooza Rewind Edition
Every artist has a moment in their career that they consider a turning point. A benchmark. A milestone. For many of the artists featured in this edition of the Indie Spotlight, the BMI stage at Lollapalooza was home to their pivotal performance, one that fanned the flames of ambition to make their mark in the music industry. We’re going back in time to celebrate the careers of some of our most successful Lolla performers who have made the leap from the BMI stage (some of them literally!) and into our hearts, ears, and playlists.
BMI was started with an open-door policy that embraced every genre and every music creator. One of our goals from the beginning was to provide performance opportunities for our affiliates so that they could develop their talent and widen their audience. With Lollapalooza being one of the biggest music festivals in the world, we knew we had to get involved. Now, 15 years later, BMI’s stage is one of the most sought-after performance spaces at the Chicago event. We’re incredibly proud of our history and of our affiliates, and we’re even more excited to be together in person when we’re safely able to, allowing music to move us as only it can.
