BMI Songwriters Take Center Stage at 2020 Billboard Music Awards
BMI is once again exceptionally proud of its songwriters who were recognized for their creative work at last night’s 2020 Billboard Music Awards. Held without an audience due to COVID-19 restrictions at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, the ceremony was nonetheless a star-studded event filled with stirring moments and unforgettable performances.
Without question, the evening’s biggest winner was Post Malone, who took home nine awards, notably Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Billboard 200 Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Streaming Songs Artist, Top Rap Artist, Top Rap Male Artist, Top Rap Tour and Top Rap Album for Hollywood’s Bleeding. Khalid also made a strong showing with five awards, including Top R&B Artist, Top R&B Male Artist, Top R&B Tour, Top R&B Album for Free Spirit and Top R&B Song for “Talk.” Lil Nas X collected four awards for his collaboration with Billy Rae Cyrus, “Old Town Road,” namely Top Rap Song, Top Hot 100 Song, Top Streaming Song and Top Selling Song. Kanye West received four awards as well, for Top Gospel Artist, Top Christian Album and Top Gospel Album for Jesus is King and Top Gospel Song for “Follow God.” Luke Combs received Top Country Artist, Top Country Male Artist and Top Country Album for What You See Is What You Get. The Jonas Brothers, meanwhile, collected three for Top Duo/Group, Top Radio Songs Artist and Top Radio Song for “Sucker.”
In addition to the accolades, the evening featured remarkable performances by Post Malone, Brandy, John Legend, Luke Combs, En Vogue and many others.
