For the 10th consecutive year, BMI composer Rick Baitz has successfully lead an intensive “Composing for the Screen’ workshop that was celebrated at BMI’s New York office on October 11. Sponsored by BMI, the workshop provides a select group of emerging film composers with hands on experience under Baitz’ expert guidance. The six workshop classes, which also include insights from other invited mentors, are followed-up with a year of continued consultation and development.

The celebration included current and former workshop participants, as well as BMI executives. During the event, BMI Vice President Film, TV & Visual Media Relations Doreen Ringer-Ross presented workshop director and BMI composer Rick Baitz with a Special Citation of Appreciation that reads: “To Rick Baitz, in grateful appreciation for his many years of devotion to the importance of music in the development, outreach and nurturing of The Composing for the Screen Workshop and a respected friend to many in the music community whose immense and enduring contributions, leadership and guidance has forever enriched our lives.”

This year’s exemplary group of workshop participants included composers John Basile, Zev Burrows, Mandy Hoffman, Andi Kristins, Zhen Qin, Dan Chmielinski, Marty Gasper, and Nathalie Bonin.
