BMI Latin Spotlight: Katzù Oso
Paul Hernandez is a LA-based Latinx artist who performs as Katzù Oso and blends indie bedroom pop with new age ‘80s nostalgia. Drawing inspiration from artists like HOMESHAKE, Tame Impala, and more, Hernandez combines up-tempo beats, melodic vocals, and synth-filled sounds influenced by his upbringing in East LA. His first album, Pastel, was released in 2018 and his sophomore project, Tmí, dropped in May. Tmí takes listeners through an emotional journey in an alternate universe and discusses the multifaceted experiences of love. Hernandez’s alter ego, represented by the Luchador mask seen on his album cover, represents his roots and serves as an ode to East LA and Boyle Heights.
