BMI Latin Spotlight: Girl Ultra
Girl Ultra is the musical project of Mexico City-based artist Mariana de Miguel. Her sparkling alt-R&B cuts shine from start to finish with late ‘90s nostalgia and 2000s sonic texture, and her work features a little bit of everything, from house and UK garage to Spanish rock. Girl Ultra has released three projects, beginning with 2018’s Adiós and continuing with 2019’s Nuevos Aires, with 2022’s EL SUR being the most recent. She has toured as an opener for acts like The Marías, Triathalon, and Clubz, and has also headlined her own shows in Europe and at international festivals like Lollapalooza Argentina and Lollapalooza Chile. Additionally, Girl Ultra has taken part in the Berlin-based internet show Colors and has performed for NPR’s popular Tiny Desk series. A new album is in the works for later this year.
Girl Ultra es el proyecto musical de la artista Mariana de Miguel, radicada en Ciudad de México. Sus resplandecientes creaciones de R&B alternativo se destacan de comienzo a fin con nostalgia por los años noventa y la textura del sonido de la primera década del siglo, y su música ofrece un poco de todo, desde house hasta garage del Reino Unido y rock en español. Girl Ultra ha sacado tres proyectos: primero Adiós en 2018, luego Nuevos Aires en 2019 y su más reciente, EL SUR en 2022. Salió de gira como acto inicial de The Marías, Triathalon y Clubz, entre otros, y también presentó sus propios conciertos en Europa y festivales internacionales como Lollapalooza Argentina y Lollapalooza Chile. Además, Girl Ultra participó en el programa de internet Colors en Berlín y se presentó en la popular serie popular Tiny Desk de NPR. Trabaja en un nuevo álbum para este año.
