BMI Congratulates its 2026 SCL Award Winners

BMI is pleased to congratulate our winners at the 2026 Society of Composers and Lyricists Awards, which were held this past Friday night in Los Angeles. BMI composers took home prestigious awards in 3 of the 8 categories at the annual ceremony, with Ludwig Göransson receiving an additional honor, The Spirit of Collaboration Award, alongside the director of Sinners, Ryan Coogler.

Winners of the SCL Awards, which celebrate excellence and innovation in music for visual media, were judged and determined solely by SCL member composers and songwriters.

Outstanding Original Score for a Studio Film
Ludwig Göransson – Sinners

Outstanding Original Score for an Independent Film
Bryce Dessner – Train Dreams

Outstanding Original Score for a Television Production
Theodore Shapiro – Severance

Outstanding Original Song for a Drama or Documentary
Ludwig Göransson – “I Lied to You” from Sinners
