Jason Blume Songwriting Workshop: Nashville
BMI’s popular Songwriters’ Workshop Series in Nashville is held monthly under the tutelage of hit songwriter and best-selling author Jason Blume.

BMI/ Cliff Goldmacher Workshop - The Demo Decision Tree
When: Thursday, May 10, from 2 - 3 PM

Get an insider’s perspective on the process of doing demos from a 25-year veteran songwriter, producer, musician, engineer and author. In addition to recording, playing on and producing thousands of demos for major and independent publishers, brand new songwriters and GRAMMY winners, Cliff’s songs have been cut by major label artists in genres ranging from country, pop and jazz to classical crossover. His music has also been used on NPR’s This American Life and in national advertising campaigns, while his song, “Till You Come to Me,” went to #1 on the jazz charts. This workshop will cover everything you need to know about presenting your song!
BMI 101 Workshop: New York
BMI 101 is a one-hour introductory workshop for writers and publishers, covering the role that BMI plays in the music industry, basics of performing rights, and becoming a BMI affiliate.

BMI 101 Workshop: Los Angeles
BMI 101 is a one-hour introductory workshop for writers and publishers, covering the history of performing rights, the origins of BMI, and the current role that BMI plays in the music business.

Wurrly Songwriting Contest
Wurrly kicks off a songwriting competition for all! Participants will compete by writing the lyrics and melody from a selection of freestyle tracks on the WURRLY app, with the winner being invited to a studio session at Geffen Records in Los Angeles (CA), with expert A&R and production advice from Neil Jacobsen - the President of Geffen Records!
When: March 1 - April 30, 2018
Fee: Free to Enter
Who: Contest is open to any amateur or professional songwriter 13 years and older. Subject to the Contest Rules & Terms of Service.
Prize: Prizes are awarded for different levels of achievement. The Grand Prize is a full day studio session at Geffen Records in Los Angeles (CA), with expert A&R and production advice from Neil Jacobsen (the President of Geffen Records!)
American Songwriter Lyric Contest
The American Songwriter Amateur Lyric Contest takes place six (6) times per year in conjunction with each issue of American Songwriter published.
Fee: $15 per lyric
Who: Contest is open to entrants in all countries.
Prize: First place winner receives a first class Gibson Guitar and a Shure SM58 Microphone.

John Lennon Songwriting Contest
The John Lennon Songwriting Contest is an international songwriting contest launched in 1997.
Fee: $30 per song
Who: Contest is open to amateur and professional songwriters in any one of 12 categories.
Prize: Prizes are awarded for different levels of achievement, such as Finalist, Grand Prize, Lennon Award and Song of the Year.
