Distribution Letter

March 2011

Dear Songwriter, Composer and Publisher:

I’m pleased to inform you that BMI Live, our exciting new program that enables performing songwriters to register their concerts and set lists online for royalty payments, will soon be available to users of iPhones and Android devices.  For Apple iPhone and iPod Touch users, BMI Live can be accessed from the BMI Mobile app, while Android users will find BMI Live on the BMI Mobile website.  BMI Live mobile will offer all the same services that are available online via laptop and desktop computers.  Songwriters should set up their accounts, register songs and sign up for direct deposit before hitting the road.

We have been in touch with our colleagues at JASRAC, the Japanese PRO, and are happy to report that they are well and continue on with their work on a daily basis.  JASRAC is one of our most prominent international partners and is among the top five societies contributing to BMI’s international revenues.  I urge all of you, either as individuals or through your place of business, to do what you can to support the people of Japan as they fight their way back from the devastation caused by the recent earthquake, tsunami and complications surrounding those events.

From time to time, BMI includes retroactive royalty payments in addition to regularly scheduled quarterly distributions.  These retroactive payments most often result from the resolution of negotiations with licensees or the receipt of previously unavailable data. This distribution includes retroactive royalties for DIRECTV Pay Per View from 2007 through 2009 and Oxygen for the fourth quarter of 2000 through 2009.

Our congratulations go to Lady Antebellum, Lady Gaga, John Legend and all of BMI’s Grammy-winning songwriters and composers, who dominated the evening by taking home almost two-thirds of the awards handed out across all genres and categories.

Congratulations also go to Kike Santander, Horacio Palencia, Espinosa Paz and all those honored at the BMI Latin Awards, held March 11 in Las Vegas, and to Atticus Ross, who shared the win for Original Score for The Social Network at the 83rd annual Academy Awards.

With winter behind us, I hope the spring helps your creativity rise to new heights.

Sincerely,

Signed Del Bryant
