BMI has promoted Tracie Verlinde to Executive Director, Writer/Publisher Relations, Los Angeles. The announcement was made by Barbara Cane, Vice President & General Manager, Writer/Publisher Relations, Los Angeles.

Verlinde will continue to report to Cane, and will share oversight of the Los Angeles Writer/Publishers Relations department with her. She was previously Senior Director, Writer/Publisher Relations in Los Angeles.

Verlinde’s expanded responsibilities will include leading outreach to BMI affiliates in regional markets including the Pacific Northwest (Seattle, Tacoma, Portland) and California (San Francisco, Los Angeles, San Diego) as well as working with BMI affiliates in Canada through its sister society SOCAN. She will also continue to work on and direct BMI’s many showcase and educational events, including the BMI monthly songwriter/singer showcase series Acoustic Lounge, the monthly BMI “Pick of the Month” showcase, and the Filter magazine/BMI industry events. Some of the songwriters she has affiliated include Jack White, Karen Elson, Death Cab for Cutie, Linkin Park, Daughtry,  James Mercer & The Shins, 3OH!3, All Time Low, members of the Foo Fighters, Nickelback (SOCAN), Hinder, Jenny Lewis, members of The Raconteurs, Brian Howes (SOCAN), Typhoon, The Head and The Heart, Grizzly Bear, and many others.

“Since Tracie joined BMI, she has brought her passion and understanding of the many music communities in the U.S. to the job and our affiliates,” said Cane. “She is a valued and trusted ally for the songwriters, composers and music publishers with whom she works, and is a resource for knowledge, education and answers on the value and equity of their music. She is a music fan first and foremost, and that comes through in all she does. Her knowledge of the business of BMI and music has served so many people, and it is those qualities that make this promotion so well deserved.“

Verlinde joined BMI in 1997, and has since held the positions of Director and, most recently, Senior Director. Prior to joining BMI, Verlinde worked at Avalon Attractions in Los Angeles where she held the positions of Talent Buyer, Media Director and Media Coordinator. She is a member of the City of Hope Music and Entertainment Industry Executive Committee. She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from the University of California, Riverside, where she majored in Public Relations.
