BMI’s Dan Spears had the chance to sit down and chat with Rock’n Roll Hall of Famer and award-winning BMI songwriter Roger McGuinn at a special “Artist Spotlight” session at the Radio Advertising Bureau Winter Board Meeting held recently in Orlando. The founder and frontman for the legendary band The Byrds talked about his long career in the music industry and told the stories behind some of rock’s most iconic songs like “Eight Miles High”, “Mr. Spaceman” and “So You want to be a Rock ‘n Star.” McGuinn and the Byrds were inducted in the Rock Hall in 1991. The Chicago native continues to put out music and plays a number of solo shows throughout the year. The RAB is the non-for-profit association that represents America’s broadcast radio industry.
