Posted in News on October 10, 2008

BMI continued its sponsorship of the Austin City Limits Music Festival September 26-28 in Austin, Texas. The BMI stage claimed its traditional shady spot near the festival’s main entrance and offered attendees an eclectic mash-up of Texas roots, southern rock, and funky folk courtesy of tastemakers and buzz-inducing up-and-comers Ben Cyllus, Paula Nelson, Sunny Sweeney, Bobby Bare, Jr., Ryan Bingham, Donavon Frankenreiter, Bonnie Bishop, We Go to 11, Band of Heathens, City and Colour, American Bang, Elizabeth Wills, Belleville Outfit, The Massacoustics, Colour Revolt and South Austin Jug Band.

BMI’s stage at the Austin City Limits Music Festival exemplifies the organization’s continued dedication to fostering auspicious new talent. BMI’s layered approach to songwriter development comprises educational, creative and promotional opportunities, including the BMI Lehman Engel Musical Theatre, Jason Blume Songwriters’ and Jazz Composers Workshops; 8 off 8th, Pick of the Month and Acoustic Lounge showcase series; and stages at premier festivals including Lollapalooza, South By Southwest, the Key West Songwriters Festival and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
