The 43rd annual Dove Awards celebrated Christian music’s top artists, songwriters, albums and songs on Thursday, April 19 at the Fox Theatre in Atlanta. The winners’ list features established BMI favorites alongside exciting up-and-comers, underscoring the strength and diversity of BMI’s extensive faith-based repertoire.

Jason Crabb took home two huge wins: Male Vocalist and Artist of the Year. Rock outfit NEEDTOBREATHE earned Group of the Year, Rock/Contemporary Recorded Song of the Year for “Slumber” and Rock/Contemporary Album of the Year for The Reckoning.

2012 BMI Trailblazers of Gospel honoree Kirk Franklin clinched wins for Contemporary Gospel Recorded Song of the Year thanks to “I Smile,” as well as Contemporary Gospel Album of the Year for the acclaimed Hello Fear.

Top-tier songwriter and producer Wayne Haun claimed a staggering five trophies. Haun co-wrote Southern Gospel Recorded Song of the Year winner “Celebrate Me Home” with fellow BMI hit-maker Joel Lindsey; as well as Karen Peck & New River’s “Good Things Are Happening,” which garnered Country Recorded Song of the Year. As a producer, Haun won hardware for Souther Gospel Album and Country Album of the Year.

Christian music great Chris Tomlin scored the Praise and Worship Album of the Year win for And If Our God is For Us…, an honor he shares with producer Ed Cash, who also took home a Dove for Producer of the Year
