BMI kicked off the eighth season of its signature Rooftop On The Row® series, presented by George Dickel Whisky, on Tuesday, April 21, with buzzing newcomers Zach John King and Aniston Pate. Over 500 industry guests observed the Music City skyline from BMI’s Nashville office as they were offered complimentary cocktails, food and networking opportunities from this year’s sponsors, including George Dickel Whisky, Delta Air Lines, Dogfish Head Beer, First Horizon, Gallagher Insurance, Red Bull Jukebox, Shure, Texas Roadhouse, White Claw, Xperi and YETI.

DJ Smoke warmed up the crowd as host Tyler White introduced each performer and surprised the crowd with his first-ever performance of his new song, “Oh Yea Baby.” The Love On The Spectrum star co-wrote his signature song with Drew Trosclair, Jeff Garrison and Lee Thomas Miller, and it will be available on May 15. In between sets, BMI’s Mason Hunter along with Delta Air Lines’ Scott Jordan, Charlie Schewe and Kris Norton gave away two $1,000 flight vouchers to lucky attendees.

Pate led the evening by diving into “Driving Crazy” and “Kickin’ It,” showcasing her gritty sound and bold storytelling. The fiery West Texan followed with her first-ever performance of “I Don’t Drink In The Morning” and wrapped her set with the title track from her upcoming EP, Handful. Amid Morgan Wallen’s Still The Problem Tour, headliner King commanded the crowd with high-energy performances of “Life Behind Bars” and “I Deserve a Heartbreak,” showcasing his raw vocals as he also announced the release of his new single “Backwoods” on Friday, April 24. He ended the night with his rowdy and confessional radio single “When I Get To Drinkin’” and “Space.”

“Thank you so much to BMI for this opportunity,” Zach John King said. “BMI is a huge part of why I’m able to make music for a living. I don’t get a lot of opportunities to play for songwriters, and they are my favorite people in the world…so thank you to all the songwriters in the crowd for making these songs possible.”

BMI’s Rooftop On The Row® series returns May 19 with headliners Avery Anna, Tyler Halverson and Julianna Rankin, followed by Drew Baldridge and Chase Matthew on July 14. Pynk Beard and Bryan Martin will take over on August 18, before the final event on September 15, which will serve as the official kickoff to AMERICANAFEST, with performers to be announced. Since its inception in 2017, the series has hosted notable artists such as Kaitlin Butts, Colbie Caillat, Wyatt Flores, Riley Green, Ella Langley, HARDY, K. Michelle, Vincent Mason, Lukas Nelson, Billy Strings, Morgan Wallen and Tucker Wetmore.
