Polish Center to Honor Jimmy Sturr

The Polish Center of Discovery and Learning will salute BMI polka great Jimmy Sturr with its lifetime achievement award. Sturr will accept the honor at the annual Krakus Festival on October 29 in Springfield, Massachusetts.

A charismatic bridge between polka and the mainstream, Jimmy Sturr has recorded more than 100 albums. His extensive BMI songwriting catalog consists of original work composed in every decade since the 60s, and his collaborators have ranged from Willie Nelson and Bill Anderson, to Flaco Jiménez and Arlo Guthrie. The longtime BMI member has earned 18 Grammys over the course of his storied career.

In addition to the lifetime achievement award, the Polish Center will also rename its museum’s music center the Jimmy Sturr Hall of Music. For more information on the Polish Center, please visit www.polishcenter.net.
