Miranda Lambert Leads List of 2011 ACM Nominees

Posted in News on February 3, 2011

BMI songwriters, artists, and producers earned 72% of the 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards nominations, announced earlier this week. With seven nominations, BMI torchbearer Miranda Lambert leads the list of nominees. The reigning ACM Top Female Vocalist will vie for that title again, as well as Song and Single Record of the Year for “The House That Built Me,” co-written by Tom Douglas; Vocal Event for “Coal Miner’s Daughter,” featuring fellow BMI artist/songwriters Loretta Lynn and Sheryl Crow; and the coveted Entertainer of the Year crown.

The Zac Brown Band earned five nods including Top Vocal Group, Album for “You Get What You Give,” and Song and Single Record for “As She’s Walking Away.” Zac Brown earned an additional four individual nominations as a songwriter and producer: He co-wrote “As She’s Walking Away” with frequent collaborator and fellow BMI songwriter Wyatt Durette.

Taylor Swift garnered four nominations, including Entertainer and Top Female Vocalist, while breakout trio The Band Perry also earned four nods, including Top Vocal Group, Top New Vocal Duo or Group, and Song and Single Record for “If I Die Young,” the group’s first #1 written by frontwoman Kimberly Perry.

Song of the Year contenders also include Easton Corbin’s “A Little More Country Than That,” co-written by Wynn Varble; and Lee Brice’s “Love Like Crazy,” written by Doug Johnson and Tim James. Corbin and Brice both earned three nods overall, as did crossover trio Lady Antebellum and perennial favorite Keith Urban.

The 46th Annual Academy of Country Music Awards will be broadcast live on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, April 3, 2011, at 8:00 p.m. For more information, visit acmcountry.com.
