Indie Spotlight: Moonrats

Posted in News on March 1, 2010

The Moonrats make music that sounds like memories: equal parts beautiful and melancholy, and just a little blurry at the edges. The sonic nostalgia they create manages to look toward the future while still giving a quiet nod to the power pop of the past—a contradiction that is a result of keyboardist Aska Matsumiya’s classical piano background intertwining with singer/guitarist Nathan Thelen’s love of Amerindie lyricism and drummer Jason Echeverria’s affinity for powerful, frenetic percussion. After migrating to LA, they added bassist Jen Lindberg to the lineup. Moonrats are currently working on a full-length LP, slated for May 2010 release.
