Indie Spotlight: Deer Tick
Rhode Island quintet Deer Tick have made an art of stripped down music-making. Raw and fierce, their sound is best savored as a live experience, but recent release The Black Dirt Sessions does a fine job of putting the band’s strongest foot forward. Together, John J. McCauley, Ian P. O’Neil, Rob B. Crowell, Christopher D. Ryan, and Dennis M. Ryan offer a sound that is unpredictable, unpretentious, and unharnessed—in short, everything rock and roll should be.
