Indie Spotlight: Leyla Blue
19-year-old Leyla Blue is a New York native who feels like most New Yorkers do at some point in their lives: lonely, emotional and in search of sanity. She began writing songs six years ago to cope with the world after feeling like her friends were tired of hearing her same old stories. Some of Leyla’s songs reflect things that she has told her confidantes, while others contain secrets that she has yet to say out loud. Her hope is that her honest lyrics and soulful voice, combined with an R&B/pop sound, will help relieve the stress that people feel in the age of social media and superficiality. Her debut EP, Songs for boys that didn’t text me back, is currently in production and will be released this summer.
