The Songwriters’ Association of Washington (SAW) is presenting its Annual Mid-Atlantic Song Contest (MASC) to help songwriters receive recognition for their work and take their careers to the next level. Founded in 1983, MASC is one of the longest-running contests in the U. S. and attracts entries from all over the world. The contest will award more than 100 Gold, Silver, Finalist and Honorable Mention prizes in 12 categories: Adult Contemporary, Children’s, Country/Bluegrass, Folk Acoustic, Folk Rock/Americana/Roots Rock, Gospel/Inspirational/Christian, Instrumental, Open, Pop, R&B/Hip Hop/Urban, Rock/Alternative and Vocal Jazz/Blues.
Gold and Silver Winners are invited to perform their winning songs at the Awards Night Gala in January 2016, culminating with the announcement onstage of the Grand Prize of $1,000+, Second Prize Overall of $500+ and Third Prize Overall Winners of $250+. In addition, as a sponsor, BMI will present the BMI Songwriter Award to a category Gold winner(s) who is also a BMI writer.
Asked to score five basic song elements, judges are instructed to disregard the production, recording quality, and arrangement. For more information, please visit www.saw.org/masc. Everyone who enters will receive a code for 5% off online orders at Chuck Levin’s Washington Music Center. Go for it!
