BMI’s Parmalee Toasts to Sixth Chart Topper with “Cowgirl” No. One Party
BMI gathered the music industry together to celebrate Stoney Creek Records hitmaking group Parmalee for their sixth career multi-week No. One “Cowgirl” at PBR Nashville on Thursday, February 12. The lead single from their album, Fell In Love With A Cowgirl, is the group’s fifth consecutive hit that topped the Billboard Country Airplay for four consecutive weeks.
The celebration was hosted by BMI’s Shannon Sanders, as he reunited the “Cowgirl” collaborators and writers Matt Thomas (BMI), Scott Thomas (BMI), Barry Knox (BMI), Josh McSwain (BMI) and David Fanning (BMI/Producer), with international co-writers Robbie Jay (PRS) and Peter Daniel Newman (SOCAN). During the party, Stoney Creek Records’ Director of National Promotion, Stan Marczewski, presented the group with plaques to commemorate the chart topper.
Sponsored by Studio Bank, Kari Barnhart made a special donation presentation on behalf of Parmalee and the songwriters in support of the Mental Health Initiative. Additionally, the new official whiskey for BMI No. One parties, Green River Whiskey, gave Parmalee and the songwriters a special single barrel bourbon, crafted in honor of their chart-topping hit. Capping off the celebration, BMI continued its long-standing tradition of presenting engraved No. One cups to “Cowgirl” songwriters, producers and publishers to commemorate their chart-topping hit.
