On October 15, BMI’s President and CEO Mike O’Neill was honored by the T.J. Martell Foundation with the organization’s Legacy Award, which was presented to O’Neill by gospel great and BMI songwriter BeBe Winans. The 44th Annual Honors Gala, held at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York City, also celebrated Atlantic Records’ Michael Kushner and Country Music Association’s Sarah Trahern, with the Lifetime Music Industry Award and Spirit of Music Award, respectively.

In addition to the award presentations, BMI songwriters Pink Sweat$ and Chris Young each treated the audience to an incredible performance. The sold-out benefit event raised $2 million for cancer research. The T.J. Martell Foundation is the music industry’s leading organization that funds innovative medical research focused on finding treatments and cures for cancer. It has provided more than $280 million for research at nine flagship hospitals in the United States. For more information, visit www.tjmartell.org.
