BMI’s Lainey Wilson Celebrates GRAMMY-nominated hit “Somewhere Over Laredo” with No. One Party
BMI’s GRAMMY Award-winning hitmaker and 2X CMA Entertainer of the Year Lainey Wilson celebrated her ninth No. One hit “Somewhere Over Laredo,” on Tuesday evening, January 13, at BMI’s Nashville office. Over 300 industry professionals kicked off the new year by celebrating the chart-topper, which is nominated at the upcoming 68th annual GRAMMY Awards for “Best Country Song” and “Best Country Solo Performance.”
Hosted by BMI and ASCAP and emceed by BMI’s Leslie Roberts, the celebration kicked off with remarks as the Broken Bow Records artist was accompanied by fellow members of her songwriting trio coined The Heart Wranglers, Trannie Anderson (BMI – third No. One) and Dallas Wilson (BMI – fourth No. One), along with co-writer Andy Albert (ASCAP – fifth No. One). “Somewhere Over Laredo,” which is inspired by the Judy Garland classic “Over The Rainbow,” is The Heart Wranglers’ second No. One as a group, following their 2x RIAA PLAINUM-certified hit “Heart Like A Truck.”
Sponsored by Studio Bank, Kari Barnhart made a special donation presentation on behalf of Wilson and the songwriters in support of her Heart Like A Truck charitable fund, that supports a variety of causes focused on changing lives for the better and celebrating triumph. Continuing the celebration, BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville’s EVP, Recorded Music, JoJamie Hahr surprised Wilson and the songwriters with plaques commemorating the chart-topper.
