BMI Urban Showcase in Atlanta Brings the Beats

BMI is excited to present the BMI Urban Showcase in Atlanta, GA, featuring a combination of the industry’s rising stars and most-promising talent. Hosted by recording artist Bre-Z, known to her fans as Freda Gatz from Fox’s hit-show Empire, the evening will provide a unique opportunity for BMI affiliates to perform their music in front of an audience of fans and industry professionals alike. Zaytoven and Drumma Boy will go head-to-head in “The Ultimate Battle of Catalogs,” with surprise guest appearances. The showcase will also feature performances by rap duo EarthGang, R&B crooner Jacquees, and rapper/singer/producer Elhae. Atlanta’s own DJ Infamous will be spinning, and BMI Legends of Atlanta Award Winner (2013) and V-103 Radio DJ Greg Street will be broadcasting the proceedings live.

Also during the festivities, BMI will present the Legends of Atlanta Award to a community leader, recognizing his or her contributions to that city’s thriving music scene. Past recipients of the prestigious honor include Big Oomp, Dallas Austin, Big Boi of Outkast, Organized Noize, Lil Jon, and DJ Toomp among others.

It’s all happening, Tuesday, April 5, at Terminal West, 887 West Marietta St NW, Atlanta, GA. Sponsored by V-103 – The People’s Station, the show will begin at 8 PM with doors at 7 PM. Limited advanced tickets are $15.00. Attendees must be 18+.

Bre-Z: Hailing from Pennsylvania, Bre-Z is a veritable phenomenon in the making, with aspirations to take not only hip-hop, but the world by storm. She’s collaborated with top artist such as Dr. Dre, The Game, Jennifer Lopez, Freeway, and many more. @brezofficial

Zaytoven: GRAMMY-nominated producer Zaytoven has worked with artists including Usher, Future, Nicki Minaj, Migos and Young Jeezy, to list a few. The German-born, San Francisco-raised and current Atlanta hitmaker kicked off his burgeoning career with authority when he produced “So Icy” for Gucci Mane. @zaytovenbeatz

Drumma Boy: At the intersection of talent and hard work, you’ll find GRAMMY-nominated, multi-platinum producer Drumma Boy. A musical child prodigy, Drumma Boy has built a solid reputation as a consistent hitmaker. His resume reads like a “Who’s Who” of music and includes names like Young Jeezy, Nicki Minaj, Usher, T.I., Kanye West, R. Kelly, Lil Wayne, 2Chainz, Drake, August Alsina and Wiz Khalifa. With influences ranging from Beethoven and Bach through jazz icons Dizzy Gillespie and Miles Davis to more modern producers like Quincy Jones and Raphael Saadiq, Drumma Boy’s distinctive approach to music production is undeniably fresh and innovative. @DrummaBoyFRESH

Earthgang (Johnny Venus and Doctur Dot): Their 2013 debut album, Shallow Grave for Toys, captured nationwide attention, peaking at #11 on the Billboard Emerging Artists chart. Since then, the duo has become media darlings, drawing support from major music outlets like Noisey, Complex and Revolt, and even a coveted “Unsigned Hype” nod in The Source. @EarthGang

Jacquees: In 2011, R&B singer Jacquees released his first mix-tape, Round of Applause; followed by a series of successful sequels including Fan Affiliated in 2012, Quemix in 2013 and Quemix 2 in 2015.
