Keegan DeWitt’s enchanting music in I’ll See You in My Dreams was the topic of discussion after the Society of Composers & Lyricists’ screening of the movie at the Rodeo Screening Room in Beverly Hills on December 16. In a Q&A moderated by SCL Board member Chris Farrell, DeWitt spoke about how he approached scoring the vibrant, funny, and heartfelt film about a widow and former songstress who discovers that life can begin again at any age. With the support of three loyal girlfriends (June Squibb, Reah Perlman, and Mark Kay Place), the heroine, Carol (Blythe Danner), decides to embrace the world, embarking on an unlikely friendship with her pool maintenance man (Martin Starr), pursing a new love interest (Sam Elliott), and reconnecting with her daughter (Malin Akerman). Immediately following the screening, Dewitt treated the captivated crowd to a special performance of his song “I’ll See You in My Dreams,” which was featured in the film.
