BMI’s LA Pop Team Hosts Berklee College of Music
BMI’s L.A. Pop team recently hosted students and faculty from Berklee College of Music for a day of networking and programmed conversations, including a PRO/CMO royalties and rights panel. The discussion, moderated by BMI’s Alex Bostelman, featured BMI’s David Streit and industry colleagues Jane Bushmaker (The MLC) and Doug Cohn (SoundExchange), each sharing insights into their respective roles, the different types of royalties, and how each organization ensures music creators are compensated for their creative works.
Other industry panels held over the course of the day covered topics such as A&R and marketing, building and finding a community, and navigating the industry as a songwriter and producer. In addition to speakers from BMI, the MLC, and SoundExchange, others featured throughout the program included industry executives from The Novo House, Nvak, and Megahouse/Poems, as well as BMI songwriters Gino The Ghost and Jason Strong.
