BMI Shines During Billboard Latin Conference and Awards Week in Miami

Broadcast Music, Inc.’s Latin music team had a busy week at the Billboard Latin Music Conference, centered around a star-studded “How I Wrote That Song” panel, held April 29, that included legendary, singer, songwriter, composer and guitarist Glenn Monroig, gifted chart-topping scribe Horacio Palencia, multitalented singer/songwriter Descemer Buenoand charismatic artist and songwriter Yunel Cruz. Moderated by BMI Vice President, Writer Publisher Relations, Latin Music, Delia Orjuela, and BMI Senior Director, Latin Writer/Publisher Relations, Joey Mercado, the panelists came together to offer the audience a behind-the-scenes look at the creation of some of today’s hottest Latin music.

Other key panels during the conference included the Iconic Songwriter Q&A with Luis Fonsi; the Billboard “Legends” session featuring Carlos Santana; the New Latin Urban Movement which featured BMI singer/songwriters J. Balvin, Plan B and Justin Quiles; the Mexican Millennials panel featuring breakout superstar Luis Coronel; the Discovery, Promotion and Revenue panel, which included Raquel Sofia; and the annual Divas Panel, which featured Ivy Queen and Sofia Reyes. The week also featured performances from Nayi during the 6th edition of the artist showcase, “Mas Y Mas Musica,” and J. Balvin at the Billboard En Vivo showcase.
