BMI and Society of Composers & Lyricists at The Art and Business of Songwriting Panel

The intersection of art and commerce was highlighted at a panel discussion presented by Broadcast Music, Inc. and the Society of Composers & Lyricists on The Art and Business of Songwriting on September 15, 2014, at The Village, West Hollywood, California. Panelists included Paramount Pictures’ Director, Music Clearance, Mary Jo Braun, award-winning BMI songwriter, Shelly Peiken, award-winning BMI songwriter Steve Dorff, BMI and Emmy award-winning composer and Music Director Curt Sobel and entertainment attorney J. Charley Londoño. The panel was moderated by composer-lyricist Adryan Russ who led the group in discussing topics ranging from songwriting and producing techniques; executing the proper song pitch; how to avoid legal pitfalls; differences in crafting, developing and producing songs specifically for film, television and other media.
