BMI Supports Raw Ruido, a Women-Led Songwriting Camp
The first U.S. edition of Raw Ruido, a women-led songwriting camp bringing together producers, songwriters, and performers who are transforming the Latin music landscape, took place during Latin GRAMMY week with support from BMI.
During three days of creative collaboration at The Signature at MGM Grand, the space became a meeting point for both emerging and established female talent, fostering artistic connections, new songs, and a strong professional support network among women within the industry.
Raw Ruido — conceived as a safe circle and a platform to empower female creators — brought together a diverse group of artists representing the strength and evolution of contemporary Latin music. Among the participants were: Ivanna Danforth (BMI), Teresa Corral (SGAE), Marián Oviedo (ASCAP), Giuliana (BMI), Cecy Millán (BMI), Celimar (BMI), Estevie (ASCAP), and Amara (BMI).
“Being surrounded by women who create from both vulnerability and strength at the same time was inspiring. Raw Ruido reminded us that together we not only make music: we also change the way the industry listens to us,” said Ivanna Danforth. “It was a space where every story turned into a song. Beyond the art, we gained a support network that amplifies our voice in an environment that still needs more female representation,” shared Teresa Corral.
The project was born with the mission of creating safe and collaborative spaces for women within music, fostering both collective creation and the visibility of composers, producers, and sound engineers.
From this first edition, multiple original songs and previously unreleased collaborations emerged that will see the light soon, confirming the power of female unity and creativity.
Raw Ruido is more than a camp, it is a statement of change, a movement that celebrates music made by women and the leadership of a new generation of creators who are setting the course for global Latin music.
