BMI partnered with the National Association of Venue Owners to provide the musical entertainment at their Congressional Reception held on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC recently as part of their annual conference. BMI songwriter and Universal Music Group recording artist Catie Offerman performed for independent music venue owners from across the country, as well as congressional staffers, as part of NIVA’s first ever congressional fly-in which was capped off with a reception in the Dirksen Senate Office Building. Offerman, who was named by Pandora as “One to Watch” for 2023 and was part of CMT’s list of the “Next Women of Country, performed songs from her upcoming project and shared the stories behind her music as well as recounting the journey that brought her to Nashville. NIVA, which was formed in 2020, advocates on behalf of independent venues, promoters, and festivals in all 50 states as well as the District of Columbia and Guam.
