BMI Showcases Strong Presence at Texas Songwriter U Program

BMI proudly sponsored this year’s Texas Songwriter U (TxSU), known as a songwriting development program designed to nurture emerging Texas-born songwriters. Six of the eight finalists selected were BMI affiliates and all participated in three days of co-writes, workshops, and performances. They also received mentorship advice from artist Jack Ingram (BMI), Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame inductee Liz Rose (BMI), 3X GRAMMY award-winning songwriter Lori McKenna (BMI) and BMI’s Executive Director of Creative, Austin, Mitch Ballard. Rising BMI songwriter Abbey Cabler was named the 2025 Ambassador for the program, earning performance opportunities at the Key West Songwriters Festival and the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame, along with a recording session at Arlyn studios.
“If you are an aspiring songwriter in Texas, Texas Songwriter U is an important part of the path to success,” Ballard said. “It is a proving ground with success stories like Trannie Anderson who has now had multiple No. One songs to her name with more to come.”
Submissions for the tenth season of Texas Songwriter U will open later this year at https://texassongwriteru.com/.
