BMI Hosts Dinner for R&B Singer/Songwriter Mario

The BMI Atlanta team was excited to host acclaimed R&B singer/songwriter Mario for a private dinner at Bar Amalfi in Atlanta. Currently on tour with Mary J. Blige, Mario was gracious enough to join us during the Atlanta stop for an intimate dinner with BMI’s team and some fellow songwriters.

A GRAMMY-nominated and platinum-selling artist, Mario got his start after signing with Clive Davis’ J Records as a teenager before launching a spectacular run during the 2000’s starting with hits like Top 5 hit “Just a Friend” and “Let Me Love You,” which spent nine weeks at No.1 on the Billboard Hot 100. His debut album, Mario, is gold-certified and his sophomore album, Turning Point, went on to receive a GRAMMY nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Album.

Later years found Mario branching out as an actor and independent record executive, all while continuing to write and record groundbreaking music. Mario made his film production debut this past holiday season, when his New Citizen Productions-produced Christmas film, Style Me For Christmas, aired on BET. Also this past December, he released his sixth studio album, Glad You Came, and treated BMI staffers and guests to some live renditions at this exclusive event.
