BMI Congratulates its Winners at the 2024 Premio Lo Nuestro

BMI is very proud of its many affiliates who were recognized last night at the 36th annual Premio Lo Nuestro, which were held at the Kaseya Center in Miami. The evening’s biggest winner was Karol G, who took home nine awards, including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Remix of the Year, Tour of the Year, Urban Female Artist of the Year, Urban Collaboration of the Year, Urban Album of the Year, Pop-Urban Song of the Year and Pop-Urban/Dance Song of the Year.  The night’s other multiple winners included Shakira and Peso Pluma, who both took home four awards each. Another notable winner was Grupero legend and 2023 BMI Icon recipient Ana Bárbara, who accepted the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Two of the awards for Peso Pluma – specifically Mexican Music Song of the Year and Mexican Music Fusion of the Year—were shared with the band Eslabon Armado for their collaboration “Ella Baila Sola.”  Speaking on behalf of the group, songwriter/bandleader Pedro Tovar gave a heartfelt acceptance speech. “I want to thank God, the great Eslabon team and my friend Peso Pluma,” said Tovar. “I want to express our gratitude and share a little of our story. My parents are immigrants from Mexico, and they made the decision to leave everything to come to the United States and give us the best. We feel very proud. To all the children at home who have big dreams, don’t stop fighting, keep composing, making music, anything is possible.”
