After two years of COVID cancellations, the UK Americana Music Week returned to East London between January 23 - 26, 2023. As one of the UK’s biggest celebrations of American roots music, BMI supported this year’s events that concluded with the prestigious UK Americana Awards at the Hackney Empire on January 26.

BMI is proud that several of our songwriters, as well as international writers who choose BMI for U.S. representation, took center stage in several categories. The nominated and award-winning artists, songs and albums are the result of the Americana Music Association UK (AMA-UK) uniquely open and member-driven voting process, comprised of musicians, both from the UK and overseas, as well as professionals from all sectors of the music industry, such as agents, promoters, venues, festivals, labels, distributors, retailers, management, journalists, broadcasters, and publicists.

Check out more photo highlights of the UK Americana Awards here featuring several special performances that decorated the show including from The Heavy Heavy, Ferris & Sylvester and an acoustic cover of “Coal Miner’s Daughter” to honour Songwriter Legacy Award winner Loretta Lynn.
