The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nominees for the 2026 induction, and BMI is excited to see many of our incredibly talented music creators in the running for this prestigious honor.
Formed in Atlanta, Georgia in 1984, The Black Crowes emerged with a stripped-down, blues-based rock n’ roll sound that got right back to basics. Fusing elements of the blues, Southern rock, psychedelia and the improvisations of an accomplished jam band, The Black Crowes brought a blend of rootsy authenticity to the rock charts with radio staples such as “Jealous Again,” “She Talks to Angels,” “Remedy,” “Thorn in My Pride,” “Kicking My Heart Around” and their signature cover of Otis Redding’s “Hard to Handle.”
Rising out of England’s indie scene of the 1990s, Oasis (PRS) burst out of Manchester led by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher. Simultaneously modern and retro, Oasis singles recalled British rock’s heroes while still sounding fresh, new and exciting. Singles like “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “Wonderwall,” “Roll With It,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Champagne Supernova” and many others soared to the top of the charts, spearheading the Britpop movement in the process. Their recent global reunion tour amplified the band’s staying power.
Boasting a powerful voice and electrifying onstage performances, P!nk (Alecia Beth Moore) debuted in 2000 with a bold, dynamic sound that seamlessly shifted from R&B to pop to rock with ease, style and attitude. Among her biggest songs are anthemssuch as “So What,” “Get the Party Started,” “Raise Your Glass,” “Just Give a Reason,” “Who Knew,” “What About Us,” among many others. Over the course of nine studio albums, she’s sold over 135 million records worldwide, making her one of the world’s best-selling artists. She’s a three-time GRAMMY winner and received the BMI President’s Award in 2015.
One of the most successful and influential British artists in history, Sade Adu (PRS) formed her eponymous band in the early ‘80s, achieving a deal with Epic records in 1983 with her signature brand of stately, soulful and sophisticated pop. Via a series of sultry, jazz-informed hits like “Smooth Operator,” ’The Sweetest Taboo,” “No Ordinary Love,” “Your Love is King,” “By Your Side,” and “Soldier of Love,” Sade cemented herself as an iconic artist with a timeless sound.
An international superstar and the most successful female Latin crossover act ever, Shakira is a genuine cultural force. Since first debuting in the early ‘90s, she has amassed a body of award-winning work that has elevated her to one of the world’s best-selling music creators. Among her robust discography are such hits as “Whenever, Wherever / Suerte,” “Underneath Your Clothes,” “La Tortura,” “Las de la Intuición,” “Hips Don’t Lie,” “Beautiful Liar,” “She Wolf,” “Loca,” “Rabiosa,” “Can’t Remember to Forget You,””La Bicicleta,” “Chantaje,” “Te Felicito,” “Monotonía,” “Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53,” and “TQG.” She’s won four GRAMMY Awards and 15 Latin GRAMMY Awards, including three Song of the Year wins.
Attaining a monumental level of influence and mystique almost immediately upon their early ‘90s debut, Staten Island collective, the Wu-Tang Clan helped define hip-hop’s golden age with a series of albums, side-projects and unforgettable tracks that practically made each of Wu-Tang’s nine members household names. Via the studio talents of rapper/producer and mastermind RZA, Wu-Tang released cinematic, sample-heavy music that was infectious and haunting. Celebrated Wu-Tang tracks include “C.R.E.A.M.,” “Protect Ya Neck,” “Triumph, “Method Man,” “Da Mystery of Chessboxin’,” “Bring Da Ruckus,” “Shimmy Shimmy Ya,” and many others. After eight studio albums and countless side-projects, Wu-Tang played its final show in February of 2025.
