BMI Congratulates its 2025 Songwriters Hall of Fame Inductees

The new class of inductees into the Songwriters Hall of Fame was announced today, and BMI is proud to salute its legendary songwriters selected for this prestigious honor.
From the Non-Performing Songwriter category, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins is being inducted. A renowned GRAMMY-winning songwriter, rapper and producer, he is the creative force responsible for memorable hits including “Say My Name” by Destiny’s Child, “The Boy is Mine” by Brandy and Monica, “You Rock My World” by Michael Jackson, “Telephone” by Lady Gaga,” “Déjà vu” by Beyoncé, and many more.
From the Performing Songwriter category, legendary Doobie Brothers lead vocalist, songwriter and guitarist Tom Johnston is being inducted. Known as the signature voice behind perennial radio classics like “Listen to the Music,” “China Grove,” “Doctor,” “Long Train Runnin’,” and “Rockin’ Down the Highway,” among many others, Johnston joins his bandmates Michael McDonald* and Patick Simmons* in this honor.
