BMI Congratulates its 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Nominees

Posted in News on February 12, 2025

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nominees for the 2025 induction, and BMI is once again very proud to see many of our incredibly talented affiliates in the running for this prestigious honor.

Formed in the mid-`80’s by Atlanta brothers Chris and Rich Robinson, The Black Crowes perfected a distinctive blend of bluesy, Southern-tinged rock that’s spanned decades, spawned nine acclaimed studio albums and won over a nation of devoted fans via infectious tracks like “Jealous Again,” “She Talks to Angels,” “Remedy”  and many more.

Hailing originally from New York City, singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper started off her remarkable career with a debut album that defined an era, She’s So Unusual. From the anthemic “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and “That’s What I Think” to heart-stirring ballads like “Time After Time” and “True Colors,” Lauper’s many iconic songs are embedded in popular culture.

One of the primary rappers to put Atlanta on the Hip-Hop map, Big Boi, as one half of the groundbreaking duo OutKast, helped forge a new trajectory for the genre via innovative singles like “Rosa Parks,” “Player’s Ball,” “Elevators (Me & You)” and more. As the duo grew in popularity and prominence, so did their experimental streak, resulting in influential recordings like Stankonia and Speakerboxxx/The Love Below that changed the rules.

Rising out of England’s indie scene of the 1990s, Oasis (PRS) burst out of Manchester led by brothers Noel and Liam Gallagher. Simultaneously modern and retro, Oasis singles recalled British rock’s heroes while still sounding fresh, new and exciting. Singles like “Live Forever,” “Rock ‘n’ Roll Star,” “Wonderwall,” “Roll With It,” “Don’t Look Back in Anger,” “Champagne Supernova” and many others soared to the top of the charts, spearheading the Britpop movement in the process. News of their recent reunion tour proves the band’s music has lost none of its staying power.

Earning a legion of singularly devoted fans, Vermont’s Phish, namely Trey Anastasio, Jon Fishman, Mike Gordon and Page McConnell, ascended out the jam band scene with an improvisational style that encapsulates psychedelic, progressive and experimental rock mixed with elements of jazz, funk, blues, country and virtually all points in between, as evidenced on songs like “You Enjoy Myself,” “Free, “Heavy Things,” “Divided Sky” and many more. Over 16 studio albums and countless memorable tours, Phish’s influence continues to be felt throughout the music industry.

Mexican guitarist Sergio Vallin joined the ranks of Maná prior to the recording of the highly influential Latin American pop/rock band’s 1995 album, Cuando los ángeles lloran, which kicked off a run of acclaimed albums that saw Vallin rise to prominence as both a player and a primary contributor to Maná. Not only did he help expand their sound and style to incorporate new elements like funk and soul, they went onto sell over 25 million records worldwide.

Nominees are determined by vote by a panel of over 1,200 voting members. The 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place in Los Angeles later this year. Congratulations and best of luck to all.
