BMI record-breaking artists Jelly Roll and Lainey Wilson joined forces yesterday (2/22) to celebrate the success behind Jelly Roll’s back-to-back Platinum chart-toppers “Need a Favor” and the Grammy-nominated “Save Me,” and Wilson’s fifth consecutive No. One at Country radio, “Watermelon Moonshine.” BMI and ASCAP hosted more than 250 music industry members and friends alike at Nashville’s Tin Roof, where the BBR Music Group/BMG Nashville labelmates reunited with their fellow co-writers including Rob Ragosta (BMI), Joe Ragosta (ASCAP), Austin Nivarel (ASCAP), David Ray (BMI), and Josh Kear (ASCAP).

BMI’s Clay Bradley and Shannon Sanders emceed the event and launched into the success behind Jelly Roll’s co-written hit “Need a Favor,” which served as his second consecutive No. One at Country radio and earned multiple weeks on top of the Rock airplay charts. His powerful duet “Save Me” featuring Wilson, was commended for earning Jelly Roll his first Grammy nomination and the two also received a nod from the 57th annual CMA Awards for “Musical Event of the Year.” Jelly Roll is one of only three artists, which include Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, who scored three Country Airplay No. Ones in 2023.

Wilson’s latest chart-topper, “Watermelon Moonshine,” closed out the evening as the nostalgic track was highlighted for making history after reaching the top spot at Country radio in just 18 weeks. It marks the fastest climbing No. One for a solo female song at Country radio since Carrie Underwood’s 2016 hit, “Church Bells” and is featured on Wilson’s ACM, CMA, and GRAMMY award-winning album, Bell Bottom Country.

Sponsored by Studio Bank, highlights included a donation presentation made by Kari Barnart on behalf of Jelly Roll, Wilson, and the songwriters in support of Rainbow Omega, Inc., a non-profit that provides vocational and residential programs to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
