Ever wonder what goes into creating pulse-pounding action music, emotional character themes, or lush adventurous soundscapes? At this year’s Comic-Con, this panel paired composers with their directors to discuss what creative thinking and conversations happen behind the scenes to develop music for fan favorite projects in film, television. and video games. BMI composer Tyler Bates and director Michael Schwandt (Cirque du Soleil, The Masked Singer), BMI composer Frederik Wiedmann and co-creator Aaron Ehasz (Netflix’s The Dragon Prince), and composer Austin Wintory and director Matt Nava (Journey, Abzu video games) elaborated on the creative process, while BMI’s Senior Director – Creative, Film, TV, and Visual Media Anne Cecere and President of White Bear PR Chandler Poling moderated. A Q&A with the audience followed, along with fun giveaways.
