Indie Spotlight: Anni Rossi
From Minnesota via Los Angeles and now based in Chicago, 23-year-old Anni is an exciting prospect. Classically trained since age three, Anni is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist and has been performing as a solo artist for the past few years. She released her full-length album, Rockwell, in March 2009, and happily, the energy, depth and eccentricities of her live show have all been successfully translated onto record. With a viola in the fore, drums and cello slightly elevate her sound, appearing to occasionally fill in the corners. Rockwell was recorded in just one day, resulting in flashes of beauty, grace and urgency on the stunning record.
