‘Women of Latin Music’ Perform at BMI’s Verano Alternativo Showcase

To kick off 2009 Latin Alternative Music Conference (LAMC), BMI presented its highly successful Latin music showcase Verano Alternativo on July 7 at S.O.B’s in NYC. The theme of this year’s installment was “Women of Latin Music,” and correspondingly, the showcase featured a bevy of multi-talented ingénues: Eljuri, Afrobeta, Girlz Talk, Alih Jey, Bea Ba, Nina Dioz and Cristal Marie.

The BMI Verano Alternativo “Women of Latin Music” showcase provided a mesh of funk, rock and dance rhythms from a varied line-up of bourgeoning singer/songwriters bred on traditional Latin sounds. Originally, the showcase series was designed to expose unique emerging artists to music fans and industry leaders in an effort to support the artists’ budding careers.

Showcase sponsors include El Especial, El Especialito, Lamusica.com, Nochelatina.com, Divino magazine, and Gibson.
