Posted in News on July 9, 2000

Dr. David Sanjek, Director of the BMI Archives, was a Research Fellow at the Museum of American History from June 5-23. While in residence, he investigated elements of American popular musical history at the collections of the Smithsonian and the Library of Congress. In addition, he met with the Chairman of the National Endowment for the Humanities [NEH], Dr. William Ferris, and discussed the NEH's plans regarding the archiving and preservation of recordings. A two-day meeting is being planned by the NEH in collaboration with the Folklife Center of the Library of Congress to which Dr. Sanjek will be invited. He also attended a session convened by the World Bank to investigate sponsorship of the recording industry in Africa.
