BMI Sponsors NSAI Song Contest

Posted in News on July 16, 2001
Nashville Songwriters Association International has kicked off its second annual song contest sponsored in part by BMI. Because of the contest's tremendous growth, this year's competition is being presented by CMT and Country.com, offering contestants tremendous television and Internet exposure. The contest will be posted on Country.com (the most viewed country site on the web) along with the winner making an appearance on the new Most Wanted Live program on CMT.

Another contest first is partnering with WSM-FM 95.5, which will promote and support the contest with on-air commercials and announcements spanning the length of the contest. WSM-FM reaches over 1 million listeners worldwide.

Prizes for this year's contest total over $10,000 so far. In addition to the CMT and WSM-FM appearances, the winning songwriter will receive an all expense paid three-day trip to Nashville for introductions to music industry executives, a guaranteed Bluebird Caf live performance, a mentoring session with an award-winning panel of professional songwriters, as well as having their winning song pitched directly to publishers, record labels and managers for an entire year.

Also new this year will be a scoring report for every song entered. The judging system will tell the writer how their song performed with tips on structure and commercial appeal. All entries submitted before or on August 31, 2001 will receive $5.00 off each entry and a chance to win a Big Baby Taylor guitar.

Other sponsors of the 2nd Annual CMT and Country.com NSAI Song Contest include Taylor Guitars, AKG microphones, Nashville 95.5, Heartwoods Custom Guitar Straps, The Songwriter’s Market, Songster Software, Independent Musician’s Contact Bible, DiscMakers, Rhyme Wizard, Nashville Music Guide, Mars Music, Musiccitynet and The City Paper.
