BMI Latin Grammy 2000

BMI's Latin songwriters and artists were hot hot hot at the recent 1st annual Latin Grammy Awards, presented by the Latin Recording Academy in Los Angeles. The two-hour ceremony aired nationally on CBS and was full of heart-felt speeches, in Spanish and English, as well as some of the best performances the Grammys have ever seen.

Songwriters represented by BMI won 80% of the total awards, including Luis Miguel and Santana who were the top winners, earning three Grammys each. Emilio Estefan, who was feted as the LARAS �Person of the Year� earlier in the week, took home two awards, as did Juan Luis Guerra and Latin music�s new �it� girl, Shakira.
